Hayley: I read in the
New York Times today that one of my mentors, photojournalist
Cornell Capa, passed away at the age of 90. When I first moved to New York to work for
Joyce Tenneson, she introduced me to Cornell and I was asked to work for him at the
International Center of Photography. I was in charge of cataloging he and Robert Capa's entire collection of prints as well as organize the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography. It was a wonderful experience and I feel very fortunate to have worked so closely with one of the pioneers of photojournalism and the founder of the ICP, which has become one of the most influential photographic institutions for exhibition, collection, and education in the world.
